Well now the most important question – Do we need to put basketball bets?
You have different options available for betting
Let us take a look at the common types of basketball bets:
The most commonly used method uses a point spread. The sports books impose these
point spread on 1 team in order to equalize both teams’ bets. In this
system, you may expect a team to win and call it your favorite. On the other
hand the other team that is expected to surely lose is considered an underdog.
The favorite team is expected to give, or lays some points to underdog team
for the bet.
Let us take an example of 2 teams, the Champions and the Tigers for the basketball bets.
If Champions are playing on the Tigers, possibility is that most of the bets would be put on the Champions, means considering they will win this game. However, if your point spread makes the Champions 5-point favorite, i.e. the Champions will have to definitely win the Tigers by 6 or may be more points. Only then you may win your bet. In this case the ones who had played their bets on the Tigers will win money on their bets if the Tigers win this game or even if they lost by 4 points or lesser. If your Champions win the game by exactly 5 pts., the bet will be considered as a tie, a push and no changes made as money changes no hands.
Different ways the bookies can make money
When you bet against a point spread, you will be asked to lay down 11-10 odds. This will mean that you will risk $11 basically to win only $10. And this is exactly how bookies and the sports books make money to themselves. If I get to bet $11 on our Champions and you are betting $11 on your Tigers, a bookie in between will collect $22 in between us, however he returns only $21 to whosoever is the winner. And that extra dollar will be with the bookie, of course as a fee for our bet.
Another common type of football bets is the Totals. It is the 2nd most popular bets on basketball. It is also popularly known as the Over/ unders.
It’s all a matter of prediction
What happens in this type of basketball bets is, a prediction is made on the total score, combined for the 2 teams that are playing. A no. is posted and you have an option of putting higher than the points predicted to be scored. This is called over. If you predict less than points to be scored, it is called under.
Let us come back to our example of the Champions and the Tigers. In the game between our Tigers and the Champions, over/under no. may be 182. You will bet on over and can win your bet if and only if a combined total score is 183 or even greater. However, the ones who put a bet on under will win only if their bets are showing a combined total of 181 or less. Now if combined scores are exactly 182 points, it is a tie, a push and no action on the bet.
Let us see the Line Wagers which is the next in line of the basketball bets. In this, a bet is made on the winning team without any point spread. However as some of the teams are at times given better than 51% chance to win, these wagers are then made using the odds. If you make a bet on your expected to win team, you may be asked considerable risk that is even more than what you may think to win.
The money odds in a game may look like this
Boston Champions -300California Tigers +240
This means that the bettors taking Champions will be made to put on $30 to be able to win $10, where as the ones believing Tigers may win may be asked to take a risk of $10 to be able to win $24.
Now let us consider the Parlays and the Teasers, which is also known as the

minute
For bets, winners and losers are determined using the final score that includes
any overtime too. But the game has to go thru the min specified time. If the
game was suspended after the min time, and has not been resumed on the very
day, regardless of if the game was completed on a later date, score showing
when the game was originally halted shall determine the bet results.
If the game was is suspended much before the min time and was not resumed on
that day, then all bets shall be considered as null and the money shall be refunded.
